Stonework Done Right
Stonework for Redondo Beach homes — full and thin stone veneer on façades and chimneys, dry-stack and mortared garden walls, stone columns and pillars, fireplace surrounds, and custom accent features. We work in real stone (not concrete cast-stone) sourced from California and Western quarries.
How We Work
Site walk, design, permit, build. One crew chief from start to cleanup.
1. Stone selection
We bring stone samples to your house — ledgestone, fieldstone, limestone, basalt, river rock — so you see them in your own light against the home.
2. Layout and prep
For veneer, we install lath and scratch coat. For dry-stack and mortared walls, we prep the footing and stage stone for the chief mason to hand-fit each piece.
3. Build and pointing
Stone-by-stone build, hand-pointing of mortar joints (or true dry-stack with no visible mortar), final cleanup, and sealing if specified.
When You Need Stonework
Stonework is the right call when:
- You want a stone façade or chimney veneer — full or thin natural stone changes the whole feel of a home.
- You want a real dry-stack wall — hand-fit stone without visible mortar, the classic California look.
- Stone columns or pillars at the driveway — paired entry columns in natural stone or stacked ledgestone.
- Fireplace surround or hearth — interior or exterior stone fireplace, full surround or just the focal wall.
- Accent features — stone water features, garden walls, planters, and pathway edging.
- You want it to look like it belongs in California — local stone, hand-fit, no plastic-looking cast veneer.
We bring physical samples, not just photos — stone has to be seen in your light to choose. Call: (310) 651-7257

What Affects the Cost of Stonework
Stonework pricing is per square foot of installed face. Depends on:
- Stone type. Domestic fieldstone is the most affordable; ledgestone is mid-range; cut limestone, basalt, and imported stone are top-tier.
- Thin vs. full-depth veneer. Thin veneer is faster and cheaper to install; full-depth is heavier and structural, but more authentic.
- Dry-stack vs. mortared. Dry-stack takes more time and skill per square foot; mortared is faster but shows joints.
- Square footage and height. Bigger jobs benefit from per-day pricing. Tall work (over one story) needs scaffolding.
- Pattern complexity. Random ashlar and irregular fit are slower than coursed or modular stone.
- Site access. Hillside or tight access slows stone delivery and staging.
We quote stonework per square foot after seeing the project — material, labor, scaffolding, and cleanup included.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is your stone real or manufactured?
Real natural stone. Manufactured (cast-concrete) veneer is cheaper but obvious up close and weathers oddly. We can install manufactured stone if budget requires, but we recommend real stone for visible work.
Can you match an existing stone wall?
Usually yes. We’ll source from the same quarry family or hand-pick stones that match the color, texture, and size. Bring us photos and we’ll tell you up-front.
What's the difference between dry-stack and mortared?
Dry-stack has no visible mortar — every stone is hand-fit to lock into its neighbors. Mortared walls have visible joints. Dry-stack is more time-consuming and more expensive but looks more authentic.
How long does a stone façade take?
A single-story façade is typically 2–4 weeks. A full home with chimneys and accents can be 6–10 weeks. Weather and stone delivery are the main variables.
Does stone need sealing?
Most natural stone in Southern California does fine without sealing. Porous stones (some limestones, sandstones) benefit from a breathable sealer in high-splash areas. We’ll advise per stone.
