Concrete Done Right
Concrete work for Redondo Beach homes — driveways, walkways, patios, slabs for sheds and ADUs, foundations, footings, and decorative finishes (broom, salt, exposed aggregate, stamped). Proper rebar, sub-base prep, and control jointing — concrete cracks predictably when done right, and randomly when done wrong.
How We Work
Site walk, design, permit, build. One crew chief from start to cleanup.
1. Scope and design
We measure the area, talk through finish (broom, salt-finish, exposed aggregate, stamped, integral color), and confirm thickness and reinforcement for the intended use.
2. Excavation, forming, and prep
Excavate to depth, compact subgrade, set forms to grade, tie rebar grid (or mesh for lighter work), install vapor barrier under slabs.
3. Pour and finish
Place concrete, screed, bull-float, edge, and finish to the chosen texture. Cut control joints at the right spacing and timing. Cure properly for the first 7 days.
When You Need Concrete
New concrete work is the right call when:
- Driveway replacement — old driveways crack, settle, and stain. A fresh pour with proper rebar lasts 30+ years.
- Walkways and pathways — clean concrete paths around the home, side yards, and to the back patio.
- Shed, ADU, or workshop slab — properly thickened slabs with rebar, vapor barrier, and code-compliant edge depth.
- Foundations and footings — for new additions, garden walls, columns, or retaining structures.
- Patio slab — straight concrete patios with decorative finishes (stamped, stained, exposed aggregate).
- Repair or replacement — when patching no longer hides the problem and a fresh pour is cheaper than fighting it.

What Affects the Cost of Concrete
Concrete pricing is per square foot installed. Depends on:
- Square footage and thickness. A 4-inch walkway costs less per foot than a 6-inch driveway with thickened edges.
- Reinforcement. Wire mesh is the minimum. #3 or #4 rebar grid is standard for driveways and structural slabs.
- Finish. Broom finish is the most affordable. Salt, exposed aggregate, stained, and stamped concrete are progressively more.
- Demo and haul-off. Removing old concrete adds labor and disposal cost.
- Sub-base work. Poor soil may need extra compaction or a thicker base rock layer.
- Site access. Pump trucks add cost when the mixer can’t reach. Tight backyards almost always need a pump.
We quote concrete flat-rate per square foot — forms, rebar, pour, finish, and clean-up included.
Frequently Asked Questions
How thick should my driveway be?
Residential driveways are typically 4–6 inches of concrete over a compacted base. We use 6 inches with #4 rebar on a 24-inch grid for anything that’ll see truck or RV traffic.
Will it crack?
Concrete always shrinks as it cures, so the question is where the cracks go. We cut control joints at the right spacing and timing so cracks happen at the joints, where you don’t see them.
How long before I can use it?
Walk on it after 24–48 hours, drive on it after 7 days, full design strength at 28 days. We protect edges and keep traffic off for the first week.
Can you do decorative finishes?
Yes — broom, salt, exposed aggregate, stamped, integrally colored, and acid-stained. Stamped concrete can mimic flagstone, brick, slate, or wood plank.
Do you do tear-out and replacement?
Yes — we demo old concrete, haul it off, prep the sub-base, and re-pour. Often cheaper than years of patching cracks and stains.
